Eileen and Alan Miller who have run Framework Arts and Crafts from various venues in Swindon since March 1988 have decided it’s time to close up and retire.
They are running an ‘everything must go whilst stocks last’ sale at the Framework shop at BSS House in Cheney Manor. There are great prices on paints, brushes and canvases, picture framing supplies and materials for crafts including mosaics, rugs and card making.
As specialist art and craft shops across the country have closed in the last ten years, the Framework customer base has expanded with people making trips from Kent, Sussex, Reading and Bristol to stock up on supplies at the same time as visiting other Swindon attractions.
However, with the new decade starting, Eileen and Alan thought they would look for new challenges. “We’re both past retirement age and we’ve come to the conclusion that we’d like to do different things,” said Eileen. “We’ve enjoyed being in the art and craft market, but it’s changing with fewer people taking it up.”
