Rain failed to dampen spirits at Greendown Community School on Friday 15 June, as staff and pupils had an area of their school playground transformed by Greenbridge Retail and Leisure Park.
The ‘School Garden Makeover’ saw three schools from the Swindon area battle it out via the public vote to win the competition to re-design a section of their play area.
Greenbridge Retail and Leisure Park’s centre manager, Kay Rigg, said: “Despite the weather, the makeover was a fantastic success. There was a whole team of people on hand to help including pupils, teachers and gardeners.
"We hope the makeover will make a lasting difference to Greendown Community School. The area was just wasteland before, but we have transformed it with an orchard to provide fruit to be used by the school canteen during the summer months as well as building a fence, benches and a footpath.”
