Join Simon Wicks & Gordon Shaw – Wiltshire Wildlife Volunteer Wardens on a guided tour of the Swindon Lagoons Reserve. This hidden gem, not normally open to the public, behind Thames Water’s works at Barnfield contains some 20 lagoons and stretches along the River Ray. A large variety of wildfowl, also herons, egrets and songbirds populate the reserve and as an added treat let Simon identify the various bird songs. Grass snakes, slow worms, voles & deer are also on the reserve and hopefully your tour will include sightings of these as well.
Tour dates and times are Saturday 21 July, 25 August and 22 September from 10 am. Meet at the access gate off the River Ray Parkway cycle path opposite Shaw Forest Park. Booking is essential as numbers on the tour are limited to a maximum of 12 so please contact Gordon Shaw on 01793 616558 to book your place. Please note that we can’t allow dogs on the reserve and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
