Children in Toothill have no excuse to say “I’m bored” this half term during a week of sports and games backed by the Big Lottery Toothill Million Big Local scheme.
Sports coach Phil Scarisbrick and staff from SuperSportsStars are organising an exciting week of games, plus arts and craft activities at Toothill Primary School. The scheme is open to all children in school years 1 to 6 or who attend the primary school. The club will run Monday 13th February to Friday 17th February, 8.30am – 3.30pm.
Phil, who attended Greendown School in West Swindon and New College, is an experienced coach who runs sports courses and after school clubs at Toothill Primary, Shaw Ridge Primary and Ferndale Primary Schools. He has qualifications in sports and exercise science, instructing and kids fitness. He is also a qualified Football Association and Rugby Football coach.
Phil, pictured, said: “Children will get the chance to experience a range of different sports and receive specialist coaching from fully qualified sports coaches.”
Martyn Cowell, Toothill Primary School headteacher, added: “Children will take away a feel good factor from being active. They will leave with more confidence in themselves, make friends with other children attending and learn about playing as a team. They will discover how to encourage each other, play fairly and how to act when winning or losing.”
