Havelock Square Farmers market launches next week on Thursday 3 October and will be bursting with local produce.
The market starts perfectly for Harvest time and there will be an abundance of fresh vegetables from Styan’s family Produce, Paget’s Veg and Coleshill Organic. Sweetcorn, peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, beetroot, carrots, onions, spinach and potatoes will all be readily available, freshly picked and sold direct from the farm.
Local favourites Hinton Marsh Farm will be selling their range of beef, pork, lamb and chicken and cooking up sausages, burgers and bacon on the barbecue and there will also be game available from Westcountry Game and Deer.
There will be a good range of baked goods too with La Parisienne providing a great range of locally made French breads and patisserie, Mrs Allison’s bakery with cupcakes and biscuits and Hobbs House Organic bakery with a fabulous range of breads.
There will be cheeses from Glastonbury dairies and preserves from Giles’ Preserves and English wines from Bow in the Cloud vineyard.
Over the coming weeks there will also be a range of local craftsmen and new food stalls starting as the market picks up and organisers are keen to offer one free stall every week to local charities and community groups to promote their work.
Organiser Kardien (Gerb) Gerbrands is still looking for local traders who fit within the rules of farmers’ markets to come forward, including an egg producer, more dairy and local apples so if you are interested please call 07813 943237.
The market will run every Thursday from 9am to 3pm and will be certified by the Farm and Retail Markets Association as a genuine farmers market.
