Haydon Wick Parish Council is launching a campaign to strengthen its links with the local community after achieving a full set of councillors for the first time in six years.
The Council has a complete team of 18 members after successfully filling all its vacant seats. It’s now embarking on a campaign to alert residents that they live within the Parish, what services the Council provides, and how to contact their councillor.
Chairman, Cllr Richard Hailstone, said, “I’m delighted that we now have a full set of councillors, so it’s the right time to let local residents know more about the work we do and to provide them with more opportunity to contact us.
“Many people simply don’t realise they live within the Parish because we cover a much bigger area than the name suggests. But if you live in Haydon End, Redhouse, Oakhurst, Taw Hill, Greenmeadow, Abbey Meads or Haydon Wick itself, then you’re likely to live within the Council’s area.
“We look after local amenities such as play areas, recs, open spaces, footpaths and bus shelters, and we also have a say in local planning applications and bigger issues affecting the community, always ensuring the best value for council tax-payers”.
Communications Chair, Cllr Liz Carroll, said, “I would urge local residents to look at our website, www.haydonwick.gov.uk, which will be undergoing an overhaul. We are also planning to send better information with people’s council tax bills, more parish notice-boards, and increased media coverage. I hope local people will get in touch through our website, by visiting us in Thames Avenue, or by calling 722446”.
The full Council team is: Richard Hailstone (Chairman); John Fuller (Vice-Chairman & Planning); Ian Carroll (Policy); Eddie Bedwell (Recreation); Liz Carroll (Communications); and Councillors Tony Brook, Linda Brown, Peter Hall, Patricia Harden, Peter Heaton-Jones, John Hebditch, Tel Hudson, Tom Jones, John Keepin, Robert McVay, John Mills, Stephen Pike and Joe Uttley. The Clerk is Sue Martin, and Assistant Clerk is Caroline Roberts.
