The library in Regents Circus will be hosting two talks on Friday 22 February from 7.15pm in the 2nd floor reading room as a prequel to a free health and well-being event the following day.
Lizzie Cambray, from Ridgeway Mindful Psychology, will give a presentation on Mindfulness and how it can help reduce stress and low mood, while enhancing well-being.
Mandy Parsons will also be on hand to deliver a talk entitled ‘Not Just Carrots & Apples!’ in which she will discuss her interest in raw food, focusing on the benefits and she will also talk about new ways to prepare foods as well as suggesting a few dishes and desserts. Mandy will be bringing along a few small samples for people to try.
Tickets for the talks are available from the Visitor Information Centre at the Central Library and cost £1.50 for library members and £2.50 for non-members.
On Saturday 23 February between 10am and 3.30pm the Central Library will host its free Health & Well-being Day. The event will include a mixture of stalls and stands from both mainstream health organisations as well as complementary therapies including free taster sessions and talks.
There will also be the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from many different organisations offering help and advice on all manner of issues including Swindon’s Health Ambassadors and Psychology and Counselling Services.
An NHS nurse will be on hand to provide free comprehensive and confidential health checks for those registered with a Swindon GP (appointments to be booked in advance at Central Library).
Alongside this, a programme of talks and taster sessions on a number of complementary therapies including yoga, reflexology, body-mind coaching, raw food, Mindfulness and Reiki will also be on offer.
