The countryside is such a wonderful arena for play and enjoyment – especially in the summer. With wild flower meadows, woodlands, ponds and the River Cole all in their glory, Roves Farm adapts its summer holiday activities to include them all.
Special themed activities are organised, changing every 10 days through out the school holidays. The first one was Bug Hunting, when all kinds of fascinating creatures were found down in the flower meadow, in the pond or the hedgerows whilst on the tractor rides. Bug creations of all kinds were made in the crafty half hour sessions – the children dreaming up their own colour schemes for ladybirds, spiders and dragonflies just to mention just a few!
Other themed events during the holidays are Wind in the Willows, when the story is retold during the trailer ride around the farm and Mole, Toad Ratty, and Badger are spotted (August 1st – 14th). The next theme is Robin Hood week (August 15th – 23rd) and finally Sunflower week (August 24th – 31st) Always something different for everyone!
All the usual favourites will be available, – meeting and feeding the young goats and chicks, animal racing, indoor and outdoor play areas, the worlds largest living willow maze, as well as the extremely popular big bale maze and adventure play.
There are plenty of places to have a picnic, or why not spoil yourself and choose from the menu for tasty snack or enjoy a slice of our lovely homemade cakes with a cup of tea.
The Visitor Centre is open from 10.30 to 5.00 daily until the end of the School Summer holidays. Further details from the website www.rovesfarm.co.uk or by telephone 01793 763939
