47 children at Swindon’s Big Arts Day created small, individual collages inspired by what home means to them. Sarah Lawlor, an Arts and Languages teacher, organised the workshop for Threshold where the children recycled magazines to create collages in the shapes of hearts, houses and keys.
Sarah, who is married to one of Threshold’s Street Outreach Workers, said “I think it’s really important to engage the whole community with the issue of homelessness, including children; they can be more insightful than you imagine! And what better way to get people thinking than through art.”
The team were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and creativity of the children and the hostel residents are already enjoying a different approach to the décor.
