Ryan Martin, 19, from West Swindon steps into the ring at the Oasis for his first professional bout on Friday 14 March.
The former Greendown School student has been working his way through the amateur ranks and, with sponsorship from Swindon companies Verelogic Group and Core Construction, he has been taken on by boxing manager and promoter Keith Mayo.
Ryan, who holds down a day job as a graphic designer and web developer with Artejano, said he has high hopes for his career as a welterweight. “I need to have at least 10 bouts before I can even think of a title shot,” he said. “My management have confidence in me and sponsorship from Verelogic and Core is really important in my career development.
“Since my decision to push ahead with my professional boxing career I knew that gaining sponsorship would be vital for success.
"So far the funds have been used to pay for additional training to help me reach peak fitness. The generosity of these two local businesses will make a massive difference to bring my dream of becoming a world class boxer into reality."

Ryan started out with Walcot amateur boxing club by now trains at the Horsehoe Gym at Greenbridge. He continues to live at home in Grange Park.
On 14 March Ryan goes up was due to take on Kevin McCauley from Brighton but his opponent has been switched to Matt Seawright, who has 99 fights under his belt, though he has only won five.
