First Swindon urban orienteering takes place on 13 July from Link Centre
The sport usually involves runners using their map reading skills to navigate their way between a set of control points marked on a map – often in forested areas.
However, in recent years there has been a growing interest in urban races, and on Saturday 13 July runners will meet at the Link Centre to compete in the inaugural Swindon urban orienteering race.
Organised by the North Wiltshire Orienteers, the event will provide runners with a challenging and exciting race across West Swindon.
There will be a number of different courses, including one for adults new to the sport, children and families.
The participation fee is low and entry is available on the day.
You can choose a distance of either 1.5km or 2.5km and can complete the course as an individual or a family, run, walk or even push a buggy.
