The JTP Trust (www.jtptrust.org) has been invited to take part in the Olympic Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 9 April 2012, to celebrate the 2012 Olympics.
Students aged 14 and below from the trust, will be part of 600 voices invited to perform alongside all seven of the prestigious choirs of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB). From Sweden to New Zealand and from Bangladesh to Venezuela, the concert will feature choral music from every corner of the globe.
The JTP Trust has a longstanding connection with the NYCGB and singers from the trust presently involved in the choirs include David Casey and Matilda Wale. Matilda was recently accepted for the NYCGB Junior Girls Choir, a tribute to the quality of vocal training received by the JTP Trust.
The gala will be the largest gala concert yet and students from the trust will form part of the ‘Worldsong’ choir, which will be directed by acclaimed choral director Mike Brewer OBE.
Janice Thompson, Director of the JTP Trust commented "We feel honored to be invited to celebrate the 2012 Olympics by singing at the Royal Albert Hall. It will be a super learning experience and a great privilege for the children to sing with some of the most gifted young musicians in the UK. 2012 is an exciting year for the trust, with the Olympic Gala Concert in April and ‘Swindon: The Opera’, a show written by us to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, in July".
Robert Buckland, Conservative MP for South Swindon, said “I’m proud and delighted to know that voices from Swindon will be part of the choir at this prestigious event. It’s a huge achievement for the JTP Trust and I hope it will provide a real boost to the extremely valuable work that they do. It is great that they are involved in one of the most important events of the year, and Swindon should be proud”.
The concert starts at 6pm and tickets are available from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 0845 401 5034.
Auditions for the principal roles in ‘Swindon: The Opera’ will take place on Sunday 5 February 2012. For further information, visit www.jtptrust.org.
