Swindon’s annual Infants Music Festival rocked Swindon on 6 and 7 July, as children from 40 Primary schools took to the stage at the Oasis Leisure Centre.
Over the two nights 2,000 children sang classic Rock n Roll songs to packed audiences of parents, teachers and invited guests, including the Mayor of Swindon, Cllr Ray Ballman who was present on the first night, with 20 schools taking part each evening.
Led by Val Weston, who has been working with the schools individually on the rock and roll theme, this event brought all the schools together for the first time on each of the two days with rehearsals each afternoon then a joint performance each evening.
An associated art competition to design the cover of the festival programme ran alongside the rehearsals with a prize of £20 and a framed original presented to the winning child as well as £100 to their school towards music resources.
The Festival was organised by Swindon Music Service and supported by Pertemps.
