AARON Nell believes a fast start is the key to Swindon Wildcats avoiding a tough night as they take on their second NIHL side of the season.
Cats welcome Wightlink Raiders to the Link Centre tonight for a cup match, before heading to Peterborough in the EPL tomorrow, needing a victory to enhance their chances of making it through to the next stage.
The Wiltshire side comfortably beat Chelmsford 4-1 earlier in the season, but not before the lower division side had taken the lead and made Cats work hard for a victory which has helped them move to third in the south group table.
Nell wants his side to come flying out of the blocks, laying down an early marker in a game he expects his side to win, but knows the NIHL side will provide a stern test.
“We don’t want to be set back by having a bad game against one of the lower teams, the game last time was tough,” he told Link Sport.
“Chelmsford played really well and we’ll expect the same from the Isle of Wight, they’ll work hard but we have to match them. We want a good start and to not be struggling going into the third.
“They’ll come to Swindon, which will be sold out, and they’ll want to play well in front of a big crowd and take a scalp. It’s up to us to make sure they don’t.”
