ANTON Rodgers requires minutes in development matches before Swindon Town manager Mark Cooper considers him for first-team selection.
The midfielder, signed as a free agent in the summer, has yet to feature for his new club after suffering a recurrence of a knee injury during the warm-up ahead of the season’s opener against Scunthorpe United last month.
He has since returned to training with the rest of his Town teammates but Cooper has revealed that he will need some form of match action before he contemplates handing the former Brighton & Hove Albion man a spot in his matchday 18.
When asked by Link Sport whether he was fit enough to be considered for selection this weekend, when Sheffield United visit the County Ground, Cooper said: “Probably not. To be considered for a squad he probably needs a couple more development games to top up his fitness. His match fitness.”
