STEVIE Lyle is keen to see two more recruits added to the Swindon Wildcats roster prior to the start of the new English Premier League campaign.
Kenton Smith, Callum Buglass and Tomasz Malasinski are the only new faces in the Cats’ set-up ahead of their season opener at Manchester Phoenix on September 14 and, while the Swindon squad is undoubtedly talented, they could run into problems should they bit hit by an injury crisis.
Therefore, veteran netminder Lyle would welcome a couple of fresh additions if possible.
He told Link Sport: “It would be nice to get one or two more guys in – purely on the basis that if you have one or two injuries that can affect you.
“That can happen especially on a Sunday night, when the guys have put in everything to win the home game on the Saturday.”
That’s not to say Lyle doesn’t believe this Swindon side can make an impact in the EPL this season.
He said: “It’s a great bunch of guys and we’re all good hockey players. We’ve only had two or three new additions so we’ve got the core of last season and from Christmas we did pretty well.
“Maybe we underachieved last year because we started out well and then had a blip where we went maybe seven games on a losing streak. That kind of dampened our season.
“We’re all looking forward to it and we’re happy to catch up with each other.”
