COVENTRY number one Hans Andersen knows his side have to drastically improve if they are to make an impact in the Elite League play-offs.
The Bees slumped to a hugely disappointing, and surprising, 60-31 defeat to the Robins last night, with Andersen providing two of only three Coventry heat victories on the night.
The men from Brandon didn’t manage a single heat advantage, which former Robins skipper Andersen knows simply won’t do when, as is expected, they enter the play-offs.
“I didn’t see a defeat like that coming but the whole team had an off night really,” he said.
“We struggled with set-ups, I rode badly but I changed bikes and it was different.
“Max (Fricke) got going in a couple of races but it’s difficult, I used an engine I’ve just had serviced and today it didn’t do anything. We had to do two attempts on it because heat one was very wet and a bit overwatered for the first race but we made changes and it didn’t work.
“We have matches in hand and I don’t fear we won’t make the play-offs, I’m just worried about getting our team sorted so everyone rides to their best.
“It doesn’t matter, if we go to Swindon, King’s Lynn or Poole we’ll have to do better."
