NICK Morris admitted he opted out of riding in heat 15 at Leicester last night despite a stunning paid maximum from his previous four rides.
The Aussie was never really troubled as he clocked up three wins and a second for 11+1 at Beaumont Park, but chose not to take the extra ride in favour of saving himself in a big to keep fresh for the business end of the season.
Morris earned a reputation as a Leicester track specialist while the Lions were in the Premier League, and the 20-year-old was pleased to see that reputation translate into the Elite League last night.
“All the boys did awesome to get a win like that and it makes the play-offs a bit easier for us now,” he said.
“I had the choice to go in heat 15 but I’m happy with what I’ve done and I have a day off now (Sunday) so I’m looking forward to that. I’ve been riding loads lately and I got 12 so I was happy with that.
“I’ve always gone pretty well at Leicester in the Premier League so it was nice to do it in the Elite League, I felt good out there.”
