THE likes of Lee Marshall and Will Randall could be in line for a rare first-team start when Swindon Town travel to Newport County tonight.
Town boss Mark Cooper is likely to be without four of his senior central midfielders for the clash – with Yaser Kasim suspended and Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin and Anton Rodgers all injured – and as a result he may be forced to tinker with the formation and make-up of his side at Rodney Parade.
That could mean a four-man midfield, with Jake Reeves partnering Louis Thompson, or it could mean Randall or Marshall being promoted from the youth team.
Cooper told Link Sport: “We’ve got Louis and Jake. We’re not resting or rotating – we’re looking at who has had that many minutes, who may be at risk of injury for Barnsley on Saturday, which is a really big game for us.
“We might have to change the shape or we might have to change how many we play in midfield and perhaps promote one of the boys from the youth team.
“We won’t change the three of the back but we might change the shape of the midfield.”
