MARK Cooper may have to alter the shape of his Swindon Town side if both Nathan Byrne and Brad Smith are unavailable to him at Barnsley tomorrow.
Smith is unlikely to feature with a groin problem while Byrne is touch and go with a dead leg – meaning Cooper could be without both of his first-team wing-backs at Oakwell.
If that is the case he is likely to tinker with his formation, dropping his favoured 3-5-2 in the process.
When asked by Link Sport if he would have to change the shape of his team, he Cooper said: “Possibly. We’d have to see. We haven’t probably got the personnel to facilitate the three at the back if both of those two didn’t play.
“We have to deal with it, we have to come up with something that gets us through another game.
“It’s very rare as a manager that you get everybody fit and available for a period of time. There’s always something that comes up – whether it’s international call-ups, illness or somebody’s dog’s died. There’s always something, so you have to be prepared for that.
“If that’s the case we’ll try and deal with it.”
