SWINDON Town will appeal the red card handed to Nathan Thompson by referee Carl Boyeson in the 5-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town this afternoon.
Thompson was dismissed for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in the 20th minute of the tie at Whaddon Road after a tussle with home striker Terry Gornell midway inside the Swindon half.
Both manager Mark Cooper and Thompson himself were livid with the decision and the latter has revealed that the Robins will be seeking to have the card – which could land the Swindon captain with a three-game ban given that it is his third of the season – overturned.
“One hundred per cent. We have to,” Cooper told Link Sport.
