The UK’s largest leisure provider, Better, will be celebrating Swindon Link Centre’s thirtieth anniversary on the exact day the mayor of Swindon Harry Garrett unveiled the town’s innovative leisure centre in 1985.
To mark the event, the leisure centre, which was opened by Swindon Borough Council in 1985 and is now operated by Better, is hosting the special open day between 10am and 5pm with many free fun activities on offer for adults, juniors and families. Everyone is welcome to participate in sports and group exercise classes, swimming lessons, ice skating and a gym challenge with prizes and giveaways provided throughout the day.
Steve Woodman, General Manager for Better, said: “This event is a celebration of 30 years of the Link Centre and Better is proud to operate this iconic centre, which is such an important part of Swindon’s culture and community.
“We know that sport can ultimately inspire change and improve lives and we are delighted to be offering affordable facilities for people in Swindon to enjoy. The open day on Sunday is a fantastic opportunity for people to try out the gym, meet our staff and learn more about the huge range of activities offered at the facility.”
