A charity aerobics day at Link Centre has been hailed as one of the most successful in the region by children’s charity the NSPCC.
Fifty nine people took part in a two hour Aerobathon involving Body Attack aerobics, Body Step, Body Combat and Body Balance with half the participants raising over £1,600 in sponsorship for the charity’s Child’s Voice Appeal.
Patrick Weaver, community fundraising manager for Swindon & North Wiltshire, said, “I extend my thanks to Link Centre and the NSPCC volunteers who put the event together – and all the participants who put in the hard work.
“The total is the equivalent of recruiting and training another ChildLine volunteer counsellor in our south west base, where calls from Swindon children are answered.
“Since the appeal was launched last year, our service has received around 5,600 landline calls from Wiltshire with 18 per cent coming from Swindon. Events like the Aerobathon ensure we are answering more of these cries for help.”
