The next stage of the comprehensive refurbishment of Link Centre got underway in early June with a £768,000 project to paint the internal structure and install up-to-date ice plant machinery.
Work is now underway to lay about 9 miles of pipework to extract heat from the concrete and sand base to maintain the ice temperature at -11°c. In late July water will be slowly frozen to an optimum thickness of 40mm, with ice hockey lines and various logos embedded in the layers of ice.
