Popular (Pop) Music exams are now available for singing students at the JTPTrust in addition to Music Theatre and Classical Singing exams.
The Trust, which is recognised both locally and nationally for its high quality of singing and performance, has decided to broaden opportunities available to students in response to the rising interest in singing. Pop exams will initially be available for 11-12 year olds.
Isobel Cassidy, 13, who sings with the Trust commented “I’ve secured many main parts in shows due to the quality of my singing, which is undoubtedly down to the vocal coaching I’ve received at the JTPTrust.” She continued “My little sister, Emelia, age 9, also performed her first main part this Summer, which I believe is a result of the training and self confidence boost she has received at the Trust.”
Harvey Cullis, 10, has been singing with the Trust since he was 5 and said “I enjoy going to lessons every week and especially like performing at concerts.” Harvey, together with two other students of the JTPTrust, are also members of the world renowned National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB).
Taster singing classes are up for grabs with the Trust on Tuesday 17 September 2013 and Friday 20 September 2013.
Children age 4+ are invited to join the friendly team of professional teachers and their students. Lessons will commence at 5.30pm and will be held at Haydonleigh School on the 17th and Lydiard Park Academy on the 20th.
Children can expect a warm welcome, small class sizes and an insight into singing with the Trust, who are known for their specialist work in the training of boy’s voices.
On Friday 22 November 2013, the Trust will join thousands of singers across the country when they perform Friday Afternoons to mark the centenary of Benjamin Britten’s birth.
