A fun-filled summer season of special events is being rolled out at Lydiard House and Park over the coming weeks.
Vintage cars will adorn the front of Lydiard House on Saturday 21 June, 11am and 4pm, at a free Vintage Vehicle Display where visitors will get to see a variety of cars dating as far back as the early 1900s.
Among the cars expected at the event include a Morris Eight Sliding Head Saloon, an Austin 7 Chummy, a Triumph Spitfire, a Jaguar E-type and a Studebaker Golden Hawk.
Birds of Prey day on Sunday, 29 June featuring barn owls, peregrine falcons and even turkey vultures.
Lydiard’s Birds of Prey event is being held as two separate bookable sessions, at 11am to 1pm and the second between 2pm and 4pm. Book tickets
Open air theatre on Lydiard’s lawn Culture vultures will be hungry for Lydiard’s popular series of Shakespeare in the Park evening performances by Quantum Theatre and the Chapterhouse Theatre Company.
Starting with The Tempest on 4 July, theatre-goers can enjoy the magic of Shakespeare while enjoying an evening picnic in the Park.
This is followed by Chapterhouse Theatre’s production of the Bard’s Much Ado About Nothing on 25 July.
And for the whole family Quantum Theatre returns to Lydiard with their version of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice Through the Looking Glass on 15 August.

Dog show Lydiard House and Park have teamed up with Eastcott Veterinary Clinic to create the Lydiard Bark Dog Show on Sunday 31 August. Free entry to the event, trade stands and competitions.
There will be a variety of competitions to suit all breeds, shapes and sizes and each competitor will receive a Lydiard goodie bag. There is a fee for competition entries (£2.50 per class in advance or £3 on the day).
Cllr Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for The Economy, Regeneration and Skills who is also responsible for Lydiard Park, said: “Lydiard Park is a fantastic place for families to come and enjoy and our events team have once again put on a great programme of events to keep everyone entertained.
“The Birds of Prey event is sure to be a big hit and has already created a lot of interest as visitors will have the chance to get close to the birds and learn all about them as well as seeing them fly. We also have our popular Shakespeare in the Park series once again and I’m sure dog lovers will really enjoy the Lydiard Bark Dog Show.”
