Lydiard Park is now fully open again following the staging of the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Swindon and there's a 2 for 1 offer available.
The play area re-opens with a fresh new surface of woodchips, laid during the closure period to smarten up this popular children’s attraction.
Councillor Phil Young, Cabinet Member for Culture, Regeneration and Economic Development said: “The Radio 1 Big Weekend was a massive hit all round and has helped to put Swindon well and truly on the music map. The event was a huge operation for the council. The clean-up is now complete and Lydiard Park is open as normal once again.
“We would like to say a very big thank you to all residents in the Lydiard and West Swindon areas for their patience and co-operation during this period. It is impossible for an event of this scale to take place without some inconvenience, so in recognition of this we have launched a 2 for 1 offer on admission to Lydiard House and Walled Garden until 30 June 2009.”
To take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer, visit www.lydiardpark.org.uk to download a voucher which should be presented at the ticket desk of Lydiard House.
The beautifully restored ground floor State Rooms of Lydiard House and the 18th Century Walled Garden are open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm. It is closed on Mondays but open Bank Holiday Monday 25 May. Joint tickets are available for both attractions – £4.50 adults, £4 seniors and £2.25 juniors.
The grounds of Lydiard Park are open every day until dusk – entry and parking is free. Visitors can enjoy the children’s play area, café, wide pathways for walking, jogging and cycling, woodland and lakeside walks, lawns and playing fields for outdoor games as well as picnic spots and BBQ pitches to hire.
