Hundreds of runners and walkers raised money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer on the second Swindon Mad March Hare around Lydiard Park, starting at Greendown School.
Joint organiser Eunice Salmon said, “it was a fantastic event which everybody seemed to really enjoy; the weather was great compared to the wet conditions in 2008. We hit our target of 500 runners and walkers and so many said how nice it is to take part in a fundraiser organised by local people.
“The marshalls and volunteer committee did a tremendous job; it’s just sad that yobs took it upon themselves to rip down the direction signs and banners put up the day before.”
Ros Marsh, pictured top with her family, a member of the organising committee who was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer in January, having fought off breast cancer, said she wanted to take part with her family. “I just dosed up on the painkillers and joined in. It was a lovely day.”
