KENTON Smith admitted his Wildcats side had only a one in a hundred chance of coming back to win after slipping 4-0 down at Peterborough tonight.
Swindon eventually lost 4-2, having shipped four goals in the first 22 minutes, but came back well in the final two periods on a night where they only had eight active forwards and two D-men.
Import Smith admitted his side didn’t use their heads in the early minutes of the game, which ultimately cost them the chance of victory.
“They came out really hard, we expected that, tonight was my first time at this rink but I was told they always come out really hard,” he said.
“They got up 3-0 in the first and that’s a tough climb for any team to come back from. They got their fourth and from there, realistically, 99 out of 100 times you’re not going to come back.
“We have to give credit to the guys for the last 40 minutes, we played hard with a short bench and only 12 guys. That’s where smarts come into play and for the first 20 minutes we didn’t use our heads.”
