JAN Kostal reckons Sheffield Steeldogs wanted victory more than Swindon Wildcats in tonight’s English Premier League clash.
Goals from Tom Squires, Craig Elliott and Andrew Hirst did for Cats, 3-1 at iceSheffield, as Tomasz Malasinski managed the visitors’ sole reply.
For Kostal, recently voted in as team captain, the defeat came down to a lack of bite early on from Swindon.
He told Link Sport: “We must play 60 minutes. I think the second half was better but the first period was bad from us. The key for being here is skating and playing hard.
“I think maybe we think we have a win in Guildford and it will be easier here but they showed us the other side. They played harder than us and then they win the battles in the corners. Maybe they wanted to win more.
“They showed us that we must stay with our legs on the ground. I think the key was the first period and the second two were better. In the last period we had a lot of chances but their goalkeeper was very good.
“We had a lot of chances on the powerplay and we must score more. Sometimes the powerplay is not easy. We were unlucky but we had a lot of chances and maybe we should score more and be harder in front of the net.
“We should shoot from the corner, surprise the goalkeeper and wait for the rebounds.”
