Hundreds of girls from all around Swindon and WIltshire entered the competition for the title of Miss Wiltshire and Miss Swindon 2014 and one Sunday 27 April the lucky 13 came to the dazzling finals at the De Vere Hotel in West Swindon.
The girls took part in a bootcamp the day before showing their strength and determination, then took to the stage in recycled eco-dresses, with outfits made out of newspapers, bin bags and charity clothing items.
Later they elegantly walked down the catwalk in their evening wear. As well as the final, the girls had to show that they were charitable and a valuable part of their community, raising funds for the Beauty with a Purpose charity which helps children all over the world.
Tension filled the room as the winners were announced. Miss Swindon went to 22 year old Catissa Creighton, who works with children in Royal Wootton Bassett who entered in 2010.
The winner of Miss Wiltshire went to Nicole Cox, 17 from Swindon who is a student and also an assistant coach for the Swindon Lightening cheerleading group.
The winners were estatic to win, shedding tears of relief. They came away with prizes from sponsors including bare mineral makeup, hair dressing from Goldsworthy, dresses from Rachel’s Wedding and personal training from Kiss Gyms.
Hannah Golding, co-organizer and presenter of the night said: "The competition was very tough, and very close towards the end. All of the girls were stunning and we are so happy with the winners.
"Being a former Miss Swindon I know how tough it can be, but with the help of myself and the other Witshire Beauty Queens we will help them become on of Wiltshire treasures".
The winners will represent the town and county at the Miss England finals, who get a chance to compete in one of the world’s oldest pageants, Miss World. Their year will be full of sequins, sparkles and media coverage.
The evening was sponsored by sponsored by Rachel’s Weddings.
