To celebrate the 20th anniversary of raising money for charity, this year local accountancy firm Monahans are hoping to raise more than £10,000 for their three nominated charities, Prospect Hospice, Dorothy House and St Margaret’s Hospice.
Having already held a number of successful events, the Partners at the firm are donning their sports kit and hoping to walk, run, swim or cycle 1,000,000 metres between them during November. The million metres are based on the combined length of the swimming, running, walking and cycling events in the Olympic Games and they are trying to raise as much sponsorship as possible in the process.
Managing Partner Mike Shawyer explains more, “The 17 Partners at Monahans wanted a significant challenge to raise money for our three charities. The million metres are on top of the usual walking round the office and home etc. and will be a tough call for some of the team. We are organising a number of events to help them, such as weekend walkathons, but they will all need to plan their own timetable to achieve their targets. We hope that clients, suppliers and contacts will all rally round and sponsor us, as every penny raised will go to these wonderful charities.”
