As part of recent International Women’s Day events in Swindon on 8 March, twenty local schoolgirls visited the Motorola Innovation Centre in Swindon at Groundwell.
The objective of the day was to encourage the students to consider engineering as a career and to learn about some of the latest technologies that Motorola engineers are working on.
The Year 9 girls from Highworth, Dorcan and Wootton Bassett Schools took part in demonstrations to help familiarise themselves with the technology. They also spent time with female engineers to learn how Motorola products are developed.
Deuce McBride, Head of Careers and Work related Learning at Highworth School thanked Motorola for a fantastic day. She said,: "The children were really buzzing about the day and several have said that it has influenced their thoughts on their future career choices".
