A brand new environmentally-friendly courier service is launched in Swindon this month. Ecolink is believed to be the first eco-courier service in the country that uses electric-powered scooters to deliver parcels and documents within Swindon. Ecolink is a unique environmentally friendly courier service offered by Mainlink
Couriers, one of the oldest couriers in Swindon, established in 1989.
Ecolink and Mainlink director Mark Butler says “It’s no longer tenable to go on doing the things the same old way, especially if those ways are having a detrimental effect on the environment. We can make a difference by adopting new technology to help alleviate these things. Electric motoring is here, now and available and if small companies
such as ourselves adopt it there is no reason why change can’t happen on a larger scale for the good of all.”
Ecolink’s eco-friendly electric scooters offer a cost-effective delivery service to Swindon businesses. The scooters zip through in-town traffic quicker than a conventional courier or taxi service at low charges from £3.95 + VAT. Environmentally conscious local businesses can be assured that their small parcels and documents are delivered without polluting the air, creating noise or carbon emissions.
Companies using Ecolink will be able to count the eco-courier service as a step toward reducing their carbon footprint which effectively
means cleaner fresher air!
The service has been backed by Swindon Borough Council. Mark Butler says “Swindon Borough Council have been very supportive in allowing us re-charge and storage facilities in the town centre, we now need National Government to get behind electric transport more to give it a jump start!! ”
Ecolink has also been endorsed by Swindon Festival of Literature. SFL Director, Matt Holland said “The Festival has been delighted to use Ecolink’s brilliant electric bike and scooter service for delivery of its brochures. They are silent, swift, and spot on. It’s good to be keen and green!”
Mr Holland, who recently received the Observer ethical award for best community garden for Lower Shaw Farm, hosted and spoke at the official launch of Ecolink at the farm.
