Swindon’s brand new comic book shop Swin City is to open its doors officially on Saturday 9th September.
A team of Swindon heroes is officially opening it at 28 Morley Street, Swindon including Deputy Mayor of Swindon Councillor Michael Barnes, Councillor Roderick Bluh, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, and councillor Justin Tomlinson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture & Recreation.
“Swin City is about bringing items to Swindon that have not been seen before. As well as a whole host of comics shipped in from the US, we have figures, toys, graphic novels, t-shirts, posters and much more.” said Vince Mancari, co-owner of Swin City. “We have everything you would expect from a comic book shop, Batman, Superman and Spiderman type comics, but you will also find a whole host of TV and film figures, including Star Wars, Transformers and even Tom and Jerry”.
Flying in for the day are superheroes Spiderman, Superman and Batman to oversee proceedings and help keep order.
“It is great to know that we are opening at last. We have put a lot of effort in to getting the shop looking how we want it to, and sourcing some fantastic products many that will be arriving the day before we open” comments Steve Causer, co-owner. “We have had great feedback about the shop and a day has not passed without someone sticking their head around the door to see if we were open, it is an exciting time”.
The storeowners Steve Causer and Vince Mancari, and manager Ben Fardon are looking for the local community to get behind the store and help to shape its growth and future plans.
“We have lots of plans for the shop and will be releasing more details once we are open,” said manager Ben Fardon. “The one thing we can say now is that if you don’t see it on the shelves; just ask, as we are more than happy to source what ever we are able to, within reason of course. We can even supply tailor made costumes of all your favourite comic book and film characters”.
