With another new surgery opened in Swindon last week, there are now NHS dental services available for all residents in the town.
The new dental practice in Gorsehill is the second to be opened this year and has capacity for around 8,500 new patients. The Eldene Dental Practice which opened earlier this year provided an extra 5000 places for new patients. The availability of this extra capacity means a vast improvement over the last year.
NHS Swindon dentistry lead Fredo Ebtahaj said: ‘We have worked hard to make sure that anyone who needs to see a dentist in Swindon will be able to access local NHS services. We have many dental practices across the town that have dental places available for new patients.
‘There is also no waiting list for receiving dental care however some practices may have full registration. Therefore if your first choice of dental practice is currently full, then please go to another practice where you will receive the same high quality of service.’
Currently more than half of the people in Swindon are being seen by NHS dentists. If you are not registered, there are two dental access centres in Carfax Street Health Centre and West Swindon Health Centre which can provide urgent care for unregistered patients.
There is a local NHS dental helpline 08457 581 926, which can advise you which dental practices are currently taking new patients and how to register with them.
