As there won’t be a Big Arts Day this year, organisers of the Old Town Festival are determined to fill the gap and put smiles on the faces of Swindon festival goers.
Chairman Trevor Smith said: “The Old Town Festival is about showcasing what a wonderful place it is, and the wonderful facilities it has. This year it is more important than ever because there is no Big Arts Day.”
The festival begins with a pop concert in the Town Gardens Bowl on the afternoon of Saturday 8 June, and after a range of events during the following week, including the Brian Bridgeman Memorial Walk on Tuesday 11 June, it ends with the now familiar Parade and Family Day at The Lawns on Saturday 15 June.
The climax to the festival has been scaled down to one day instead of two, for financial reasons.
Schools, social groups, clubs, Scouts, Brownies, families, businesses and performing arts groups are all invited to join in this year’s parade.
