THE North Wilts Youth League is well under way – here are the reports from around the divisions after a bumper weekend of action…
Under 11 Division 3
SWINDON Rangers lost a 12-goal thriller 7-5 to South Cerney, as Harrison Crook netted four goals. Rangers also found the back of the net through Jamie Watson.
Imogen Williams scored a brace as Abbeymeads romped into a healthy first-half lead against Hungerford. Nathan Goodenough and Dejan Broja also netted Abbey, though Hungerford battled back in the second period to see the game finish 4-3.
Under 12 Division 1
WANBOROUGH saw off Highworth Town Juniors T 3-1. Early goals from Liam O’Reilly and Will Sumner set the tone before James Whettam reduced arrears for the visitors before the break.
Tom Moore’s strike in the second half sealed victory for the hosts.
Highworth Town Juniors H notched their second win in a row with a well-earned 4-2 away win at Croft JuniorsRed. Cameron Hicks set the away side on the road to victory, with Bilal Durdu getting two and the other from an own goal from a corner from Beyazit Durdu.
Under 12 Division 4
A CLOSELY fought match between FC Abbeymeads Colts and Avebury ended in a 2-2 draw.
Avebury took an early lead and almost added a second from the penalty spot but were denied by a by goalkeeper Joshua Hodson. Abbeymeads fought back in the second half and levelled the score with a penalty from James Ejsmont. Jack Cremin then put them ahead before Avebury struck a late equaliser.
Under 13 Division 1
FC Abbey Meads outdid Wootton Bassett Blue 2-1. Meads dominated early on and Brandon Lewis gave them a deserved lead. Bassett made it 1-1 before Ben Dodd put Abbey in front. In a very even second half Bassett missed a penalty late on.
Under 14 Division 2
A REMARKABLE second-half fight-back saw Ferndale beat Ramsbury 6-2 away from home.
Ramsbury lead 2-1 at half-time but the visitors hit back after the break and goals from Xavi Diaz-Butcher, Kyle Meader-Harris from the penalty spot and Dawid Osinski (4) completed the win.
Under 14 Division 3
IN midweek, Ferndale Rodbourne Colts recorded a 3-1 success against Wootton Bassett White.
Ben Simons scored the opening goal of the game with an excellent free-kick before Bailey Gunning added the other two goals during the second half.
On Sunday, Ferndale grabbed a 1-1 draw against Castle Combe thanks to a goal from Lucas Peachey.
Under 15 Division 3
TWO goals from Keenan Burton were not enough to stop Croft Juniors Blue from falling to a 3-2 defeat at Chiseldon.
Wootton Bassett White scored twice in the first 15 minutes of their clash with Croft Juniors White but the visitors dominated from then on in.
Eldan Vas clawed a goal back for Croft with a fine free-kick before, on the stroke of half-time, Kevin Rai levelled following a good team move. In the second half, Croft White completed their comeback with two goals from Thomas Arnold and one apiece from Kaiden Cinquegrai and Sandesh Thapa.
Under 17/18 Division 1
SWINDON Supermarine enjoyed their first win of the season at Purton on Wednesday.
A closely fought contest was eventually decided by a smart, four-man move finished by Brendor Nkegbe, which resulted in the only goal of the match.
Under 17/18 Division 2
LEWIS Wickens (3) and Jack Ahrens (4) kept their partnership going for Blunsdon in a 7-0 victory over Wanborough 7-0. The pair have now scored 13 goals in two matches this season.
