Cerebra, a national charity for children with brain injuries received a generous donation of £20, 000 from energy supplier NPower.
Cerebra’s aim is to help children with neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries and their families through direct support, as well as education and research. The £20,000 donation will go towards providing sensory suitcases and bubble tubes which can help the development of children with a range of conditions from Autism to Cerebral Palsy.
The cases contain a variety of sensory equipment such as an LED light ball, a Relax with Nature CD, an Aroma Diffuser with Lavender, a mini LED lightsource, a tactile colour pack and much more. Normally just one of these suitcases costs over £1000, and the bubble tubes alone cost almost £700, making them unobtainable for many families.
This is just one example of the work Cerebra does. The charity also provides specially designed sensory equipment from the Cerebra Innovation Centre, a free holiday home, a free postal lending library, direct support from our UK-wide regional support officers and sleep specialists, and advice and guidance from our research team.
Kelly Brown from NPower told us that they are proud to donate money to Cerebra, hoping that the donation will mean shorter waiting lists for sensory toys that are a real benefit to some of the children we support. Cerebra is extremely grateful for the donation.
