2012 was a year of fun and fund-raising for The Midcounties Co-operative in Old Town and its food store opened its doors to residents before Christmas as they joined staff for a special celebration.
Colleagues at the store in High Street welcomed almost 400 co-operative members and shoppers for a luxury festive tasting session to mark the end of the International Year of the Co-operatives.
Everything from mince pies to mulled wine and festive cheeses were on offer for the hungry guests, as they spent an evening indulging in the seasonal range.
What’s more, they had a special guest as Santa arrived to hand out gifts to the party guests as a special thank you to local people for their support throughout the year.
The evening supported local causes with £100 raised for the Sea Cadets and the local Methodist Church.
Rachel Lockett, Membership Development Officer, said: “It’s always important to thank our customers and members for their support, but being able to also mark the end of the International Year of the Co-operatives with the community we serve has been very special. We had such a great evening raising money for some very important causes and seeing so many people turn up to help us party was the icing on the cake!”
The staff were joined by the Sea Cadets and the local Methodist Church to host the evening and helped manage the festive food giveaways that proved very popular on the night.
