Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell joined South Swindon MP Robert Buckland at Swindon Central Library on Monday 7 April to launch Parkinson’s Awareness Week in the town.
A stand set up in the library to give local residents more information about the condition and the help that’s available.
James and Robert meet Dave Logan, vice chair of the Swindon & District Branch of Parkinson’s UK, who is swimming the equivalent of the distance from England to France – 34km – to raise funds for a new Balance & Exercise Class in Swindon. His target is to raise £5000 to cover the cost of a year’s classes.
Robert said, “I’m delighted that James Cracknell, a sporting hero and a candidate in the forthcoming Euro elections, was able to join me. We’re supporting Dave Logan in his swim challenge which only has a few km left to go. This is a fantastic cause and I am happy to do anything I can to raise awareness”.
