The organising committee is busy finalising the programme of events for this year’s Emergency Services Show which is being held at Hullavington Airfield near Chippenham, just off J17 of the M4, on Sunday 8 September between 10am and 4pm.
Amongst the activities already confirmed are demonstrations by the Wiltshire Police dog section, a wide range of new and vintage emergency service vehicles on display, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Great Western Air Ambulance, a fun fair, fire engine and police car rides, and the opportunity to chat with local police officers, firefighters and paramedics about their work.
One of the day’s highlights will be a jump by the Renegades Parachute Display Team.
The team is unusual in that it’s not military based – its members are from all walks of life, including firefighters, mechanics, engineers and financial advisors! The thing that they have in common is that they all have a passion for adrenaline, and they all love supporting events such as the Emergency Services Show.
The Emergency Services Show is organised by a committee of volunteers drawn from Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and the Highways Agency.
Committee chairman Chris Harvey said: "This is the eighth show and, after taking a break in 2012 because of the Olympics, we are confident that we’re back for 2013 with an event that is bigger and better!
"There’s still time to get involved, either as an exhibitor or a trader, just visit our website at www.emergencyservicesshow.com and register.
"With some 10,000 visitors in 2011, this is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to support a truly local show.”
Pre-sale tickets are also available on-line at www.emergencyservicesshow.com, costing £5 for adults, £2.50 for children under 16 and free for the under threes. As well as saving you money, pre-sale tickets will also get you entrance to the show via a fast track gate.
