A week long project involving young people in the town centre started on Monday 20 August to put the Parklife mural and mosaic design onto the shelter by the lake/duck pond in Queen's Park.
Tim Carroll, the designer from Artsite, a Swindon artist led initiative, collected drawings from park visitors on 30 July saying 'the more drawings collected the richer the mural will be.'
Sick and tired of the graffiti that has accumulated for years on the shelter, the community responded with enthusiasm and Tim took away a thick bundle of sketches to be integrated into the mural.
As the week progresses the artists and local young people will be bringing the design to life and it is hoped the final design will be finished by the Bank Holiday 27 August – weather permitting.
Youth worker Lynette Thomas will be working with young people to add raised areas of mosaic to the mural to create even more interest to the design.
