Following a critically acclaimed season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2007, ground-breaking comedian, Paul Sinha, will be touring the UK in 2008 with his latest landmark show, King Of The World, at Swindon's Arts Centre on 23 February.
In the wake of his hugely successful 2006 show, Saint Or Sinha?, (for which he was nominated for the prestigious if.comedy Award) King Of The World has consolidated Paul’s position as one of the UK’s foremost comedy practitioners.
“THERE’S AN IRRESISTIBLE NEW RHYTHM AND MOMENTUM TO KING OF THE WORLD, WITH JOKES COMING THICK AND FAST, BUT OFTEN WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT THEM…SUPERLATIVE STUFF” Telegraph 2007
Sinha possesses a frighteningly honest opinion of the ludicrous absurdities of modern life and the candour of his perfectly timed, immaculately tailored stories often leaves audiences breathless with disbelief at his audacity. This year he’ll be culling even more sacred cows as he delivers his unique take on life, death, binge drinking, trivia fanaticism, and finding redemption on the roulette tables of Las Vegas.
“SUPERB COMIC WRITING…NO QUESTION, SINHA IS HERE TO STAY” Times 2007
In the ten years since if.comedy Award nominee Paul Sinha took his first tentative steps onto the stage and he has established himself as one of the UK’s most intelligent and thought-provoking young comedians. His boundary-breaking material has led to him amassing an impressively diverse list of comedy credits. He has performed his unique brand of comedy around the world in places as far afield as Durban and Auckland, Dubai and Shanghai and Amsterdam and Singapore, and China.
“INTELLIGENT COMEDY THAT’S ACCESSIBLE AND GENUINELY, FROM-THE-HEART FUNNY…THIS IS WHAT A GOOD STAND-UP SHOULD BE” Chortle 2007
In the past few years Paul has become a regular headliner at most of the country’s biggest and best known comedy venues including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Bearcat Comedy Club, The Monday Club, The Comedy Café and The Stand. He has written and performed three full-length shows, the first of which, Aspects Of Love Actually was described by The Stage as “An impressive debut…original and intelligent”. His 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Saint or Sinha?, won critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike and was nominated for the if.comedy Award.
An avid sports fan with a keen knowledge of football, cricket, tennis, snooker and golf among others, Paul has made a name for himself as a popular guest sports commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Asian Network and The Times online podcasts, and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s You And Yours. Paul also won the inaugural Any Questions Answered competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2007 and has been chosen to take part in University Challenge – The Professionals.
