Wiltshire police have appealed for information that will help them piece together events leading up to the death of a man in the Rodbourne area of Swindon early this morning.
At a site meeting with the media at 2pm, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Matt Davey, pictured, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything between 1am and 1.45am on Wednesday 6 June in the area of Barnum Court, Rodburne, Swindon.
"If you heard anything or saw someone running away from the scene at that time, you may have vital information that would assist us with this murder investigation.”
Two men, both aged 18, were stopped by police near to the scene of the murder and have been arrested. They have been taken to separate police stations in Swindon and Wiltshire to be questioned.
On arrival at the scene in the early hours police found a white male, aged approximately 40, lying in the street suffering from stab wounds. Officers gave the man first aid until the ambulance arrived shortly afterwards. The victim was taken to Great Western Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2.20am. Detectives are trying to confirm the identity of the man and trace his next of kin.
Police have been carrying a forensic examination of the scene and finger tip searches of the locality for much of the day and offficers have been speaking to residents in the area.
