In the early hours of this morning – Friday 14 June – Swindon police raided a premises being used for the cultivation of cannabis.
Officers attended a residential address on Helmsdale Walk, Swindon, and found several rooms set up with electrical equipment, hydroponics and fertilizer.
It was clear that in excess of 100 plants had been grown at the premises. The premises was set up in a systematic way with several rooms being used to propagate plants.
Inspector Joe Saunders from East Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The cultivation of cannabis on any scale is a criminal offence. This set up has been designed to maximize profits from the sale of drugs, and has been found in a residential area.
"Those responsible are looking to make as much money as they can regardless of the impact on the community.”
Several people have come forward with information. However anyone who has seen anything suspicious in Helmsdale Walk, particularly over the last few days, are asked to contact PC Rory Draper from East Swindon NPT on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
