Wiltshire Police want to interview with an individual caught on CCTV after almost 100 cars were damaged – with many having their tyres slashed on several residential roads in and around the Old Town area of Swindon between 3am and 5am on Thursday 21st February 2012.
The affected roads included Stafford Street, Dixon Street, Prospect Hill, East Street, Wood Street, Evelyn Street, North Street, Raggett Street, Westlecot Road and Berenger Close.
Anyone who recognises this person or who has other information should contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information may be left anonymously.
On 22 February East Sector Inspector Joseph Saunders said: “This is a large enquiry which we are investigating thoroughly. Due to the large number of cars damaged during this spate of vandalism, I am confident that someone must have seen or heard something in the early hours of February 21st which might prove crucial to this investigation.
"I would also like to thank the local community for their assistance in the case so far – we have had several people come forward with information already. I also want to reassure the public and all of the victims in this incident, that Wiltshire Police remain fully committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.
“There are several lines of enquiry that we are exploring with regards to this incident and we are reviewing a large amount of CCTV which covered some of the affected area.
“Anyone who may have seen or heard anything between 3am and 5am on Thursday 22nd February, no matter how small, should contact Wiltshire Police as this may be the key to unlocking this investigation.
“I would also ask people in general to remain vigilant of their property and their neighbour’s property and if anyone ever sees anything they deem to be suspicious, then they should contact Wiltshire Police immediately.”
