It is hoped that the new facility, which was built thanks to a one-off grant from the Department of Health, will be open from 8.00am to 8.00pm every day, and will provide a welcoming environment for the patients, families, visitors and volunteers at the Hospice. While Prospect has already succeeded in recruiting from its existing volunteer group, there is still a need for more volunteers, especially at weekends. It is hoped that volunteers will be prepared to offer four hours each week in the new space.
Volunteers will be required to provide a welcoming environment to patients, families, visitors and staff, to help behind the counter and operate the till, and help to keep the Heart of the Hospice area clean and tidy. They also need to demonstrate a friendly, caring and professional attitude, and attend meetings and training sessions as required. Full training will be provided.
