After last minute appeals to boost participation in the annual Race for Life at Lydiard Park on Sunday 2 June in aid Cancer Research UK, over three and half thousand women dressed in pink tee-shirts, tutus and ears as well as a variety of other turnouts including leopard print onesies.
Two 5k events took place through the sun-drenched grounds, with some 2,650 taking part in the morning run or walk, and around 900 in the afternoon.
Seven-year-old Amelia Jones from Cricklade was asked to start the race. Her mother Jill died in March 2012, succumbing to breast cancer for the third time in five years, aged 43. Amelia is pictured, right, with her father Martin blowing the horn to set the runners off.
