In keeping with our exceptional season of musical delights, the Arts Centre is proud to welcome one of Britain's most respected and best-loved singer/songwriters, Ralph McTell.
Please join us for an evening with Ralph as he shares with us his virtuoso guitar style, his most creative and gifted songwriting, with a style that invites you into a unique world, as he weaves a narrative that is both significant and poignant.
Ralph’s career dates back to the mid-1960s folk boom when, influenced by American bluesmen such as Big Bill Broonzy and the Reverend Gary Davies, he gained a reputation as a skilled finger-style guitarist.
Artists such as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie inspired McTell to write his own songs. Best known for Streets of London, the million-selling worldwide hit, Ralph McTell has written hundreds of songs – his writing has earned him the Ivor Novello Award and a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting.
Ralph McTell continues to write, record and tour regularly. In 2004, he celebrated his sixtieth birthday with a sell-out concert in London's Royal Festival Hall.
